The City of Sterling Heights is seeking a Parks & Recreation Supervisor who is hard-working and results-driven to join our Parks & Recreation team!
- Pay starts at $36.9231/hr.
- Pay increases every twelve (12) months and annually on July 1st!
- Every other Monday off

The Recreation Supervisor leads a variety of programming areas for the Parks & Recreation Division and is instrumental in planning, implementing, and evaluating innovative and meaningful events and programs. A customer service orientation and attention to detail are essential as the Recreation Supervisor monitors budget allocation for assigned program areas, prepares and verifies various departmental reporting, and plays an active role in resolving service-related concerns.
The Recreation Supervisor is an active contributor to the Parks & Recreation profession, and as such, must be aware of current trends and procedures, as well as continuously plan, implement, and evaluate programs & events being offered. To ensure the success of assigned programs, the Recreation Supervisor seeks program sponsors and private donations, as well as coordinates the marketing of those programs.
Parks & Recreation prides itself on offering high quality, value-driven recreation services and programs to residents, so the Recreation Supervisor must be articulate and forward thinking in order to participate in long-range planning of the department.
The current vacancy will be stationed at the Sterling Heights Community Center, primarily supporting youth and adult sports, event and program coordination and supervision.

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation, or related field.
- Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) required or must be obtained within five years of hire and maintained.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with other staff and program participants.
- Physical strength and dexterity to lift boxes and supplies up to 50 pounds in weight.
- Minimum of three years' experience within the field in a related setting.
