8NE & NW, is a 68-bed cardiac step-down unit that provides intermediate care for patients with cardiac diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, and arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia). We also provide pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac interventions, including catheterization/angioplasty, stents, ablations, pacemaker and defibrillator placement. Nurses receive specialized training in arterial sheath removal and Tikosyn administration and are ACLS certified.

All patients are continuously monitored by telemetry.

Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Transports patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services, and documents services appropriately. Provides observer services for patients requiring constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
• Current CNA certification preferred
