About The Unit

CPCU, 8NE, is a 68-bed unit cardiac step-down unit that provides an intermediate level of care for patients with cardiac-related diagnoses such as CAD, CHF, MI and heart arrhythmias including A-fib and V-Tach. We also provide pre and post-procedure care for cardiac procedures such as catheterization/angioplasty, stents, ablations, and placement of pacemakers and defibrillators. Nurses receive specialized training in arterial sheath removal and Tikosyn administration and are ACLS certified.

All patients are continuously monitored by telemetry.

Scope

of Work

As a Registered Nurse, under the ANA scope of practice, you will utilize the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The Registered Nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Associates or Diploma in Nursing from an ACEN accredited program, required. Bachelors in Nursing required within 5 years for GN or RN with less than 1 year of experience. Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) license, required.
  • American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
  • ACLS within 6 months of hire, required
