Force Calibration Technician / Engineer
Location:
Near Leamington Spa | Salary: £30,000 - £33,000 DOE |
Hours:
Monday to Friday | 40 hours | Day Shift
Syntech Recruitment are partnering with a well-established, UKAS‑accredited calibration laboratory expanding its force calibration capability.
This is a precision‑driven, hands‑on role focused specifically on force measurement, load cells, torque transducers and material testing equipment, operating strictly to ISO/IEC 17025 standards.

The Role – Force Calibration FocusYou will be responsible for performing high‑accuracy force calibrations across a range of customer equipment, ensuring full UKAS compliance and technical integrity.
Typical equipment will include:- Load cells (compression & tension)
- Force gauges
- Torque transducers
- Material testing machines
- Universal testing machines (UTM)
- Hydraulic and mechanical force systems
You will work to strict laboratory procedures and uncertainty budgets, ensuring traceability to national standards.
Key Responsibilities- Perform force and torque calibrations in line with ISO/IEC 17025 procedures
- Operate dead weight testers, force frames and specialist calibration rigs
- Calculate measurement uncertainty and apply correction factors
- Complete and review calibration certificates and supporting documentation
- Ensure full traceability to national standards
- Identify, document and resolve non‑conformances
- Input accurate calibration data into the laboratory management system
- Maintain laboratory standards and housekeeping in line with UKAS audits
- Support internal audits and external UKAS assessments
- Liaise with customers regarding technical queries where required
- Proven hands‑on experience in force calibration within a UKAS environment
- Strong working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025
- Understanding of uncertainty calculations and measurement traceability
- Experience working with load cells, torque systems or mechanical testing equipment
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong numerical skills and confidence working with Excel
- High attention to detail and methodical working approach
- Mechanical or engineering qualifications (HNC/HND, NVQ, apprenticeship or equivalent) are advantageous
- Specialist force‑focused position (not generalist calibration)
- Stable, accredited laboratory with consistent workflow
- Clean, structured day‑shift hours
- Clear technical development within metrology
