Role Overview

The Multimodality Technologist, under general supervision of a Radiologist, performs imaging procedures in two or more disciplines, with at least 25% focus in an advanced discipline such as CT, MR, Nuclear Medicine or IR, on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Performs high‑quality multimodality procedures, according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
  • Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of radiation dose reference levels, monitoring, and required actions when exceeded, including patient follow‑up.
  • Utilizes iSTAT point‑of‑care testing for obtaining creatinine levels.
  • Uses AIDET when communicating with patients to identify service requirements, ensure correct exam, and establish rapport.
  • Prepares patient and area for procedure by positioning, utilizing immobilization devices, and setting equipment parameters.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety, infection‑control, drug, and radiation policies; uses sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene.
  • Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards; collaborates with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities.
  • Reports issues to management or appropriate department and assists in maintaining supplies inventory.
  • Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation (requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, policies, and procedures).
  • Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate systems, according to department policies and procedures.

  • Explain the procedure and put patients at ease.
  • Provide services timely, accurately, and cost‑efficiently in compliance with established system and regulatory standards.
  • Perform tasks independently without routine oversight.
  • Maintain a calm and helpful attitude under stress, resolving issues appropriately.
  • Administer first aid and use emergency cart.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, and reviewing patient satisfaction scores.
  • Maintain current knowledge, continued education, and skills appropriate for all age groups.
  • Serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new or current team members.
  • Take call, if required.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education:

    Graduate of an accredited program.
  • Experience:

    Less than 1 year of experience.
  • Certification/License/Registration:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.
    • Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT):
      Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT), unless the role is MRI and Ultrasound.
    • A list of required ARRT and RDMS certifications (ARRT‑CT, ARRT‑MR, ARRT‑N, etc.) as outlined in the original description (examples include ARRT‑CT, ARRT‑MR, ARRT‑N, ARRT‑S, ARRT‑VI, ARRT‑BD, ARRT‑BS, ARRT‑CI, RDMS‑AB, RDMS‑BR, RDMS‑FE, RDMS‑OB, RDMS‑PS). The technologist must hold valid certifications in at least two imaging modalities, with 50% time in the second modality.
