Required Qualifications:

Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

  • Must either possess EPA Section 608 certification or be able to obtain one within 60 days.
  • Must possess employment experience as a HVAC
    -R mechanic, exhibiting knowledge of HVAC
    -R principles and skill in HVAC
    -R troubleshooting and repair.
  • Understand mechanical concepts
  • Ability to perform basic math & use trade-specific tools
  • Must possess the ability and willingness to communicate professionally and effectively with university staff, faculty, students, guests, and contractors.
  • Must be available and willing to work after-hours on-call duty, on a rotating basis with other shop personnel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years HVAC experience.
  • Previous experience in higher education or government.
  • Ability to read blueprints & schematics and read & interpret technical manuals.
  • Experience with SAP & AiM.
Job Description

The Air Conditioning Mechanic II will oversee and ensure the maintenance of appropriate heating and cooling levels in university buildings.

Job Duties
  • Duties include inspecting buildings and systems and performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing air conditioning and heating systems and related equipment, including operation of refrigerant recovery equipment, on the Texas State University Round Rock campus.
  • Help identify irrigation problems and report back to supervisor.
  • Perform PMs and light repairs at the CUB .
  • Participate in on-call rotation for the Round Rock Facilities group.
  • Complete work orders and log sheets.
  • Operate university vehicle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
