Our client, located in Round Rock, TX, is seeking an Inside Sales Team Lead to build and lead its first federal acquisition sales team. This player-coach role requires a proven federal IT hunter who can drive net-new business while developing entry-level SDRs.
The individual will carry a personal sales quota and focus on acquiring new federal agencies and government contractors. In addition to closing business, this leader will hire, train, and coach SDRs—establishing a repeatable, scalable federal sales motion. As performance and revenue grow, the scope of leadership responsibility will expand accordingly.
This is an on-site inside sales role requiring deep experience selling IT solutions into federal agencies and organizations.
What You’ll Do- Identify and prioritize high-value federal targets
- Prospect aggressively through cold outreach, referrals, and strategic introductions
- Run discovery calls, qualify opportunities, build proposals, and close net-new business
- Navigate federal procurement processes and contract vehicles
- Build and maintain an accurate, forecastable pipeline in Salesforce
- Document and refine a repeatable federal acquisition playbook
- Participate in hiring and onboarding entry-level SDRs
- Train SDRs
- Lead by example—have SDRs shadow your calls and customer interactions
- Provide daily coaching on outreach, objection handling, and pipeline management
- Drive accountability through pipeline reviews, performance tracking, and deal coaching
- Prior team lead or sales leadership experience preferred, but NOT required!
- Minimum 3 years selling IT hardware, software, or services into federal agencies or government contractors
- Direct experience with federal procurement processes and contract vehicles
- Experience working within reseller/OEM environments
- Proven record of consistently meeting or exceeding quota
- Demonstrated coaching and mentoring ability
- Ability to articulate and teach your sales methodology
