We are Heart of Texas Veterinary Specialty Center, located in Round Rock, TX (a suburb of Austin). We are currently seeking a full-time ER Veterinarian Mentor to join our team.
Our Practice
We are an AAHA accredited, Fear Free Certified specialty hospital providing full-service 24/7 care in Emergency, Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Oncology. Our staff is dedicated to quality medicine. We partner with an on-site cardiologist, have a sonographer and radiologist, and use advanced diagnostics including ECG, blood gas, ultrasound, telemetry, cystoscopy, cryotherapy, and CT imaging. A new facility built to our specifications is expected in early 2025.

- Love ER medicine and share that passion.
- Mentoring new DVM hires for up to two years (based on experience level).
- Provide clear performance expectations with the medical director.
- Encourage CE that elevates ER medicine quality.
- Develop a mentorship program with the medical director.
- Partner experienced ER doctors to mentor on the floor with scheduled clinical pairings.
- Schedule case reviews and/or M&M rounds with the ER DVMs.
- Assist with veterinary student extern rotation mentorship.
- Primary case duty; paired with a mentee to aid in case management.
- Build relationships with colleagues, clients, and support staff to ensure a compassionate and collaborative work environment.
- Foster a learning environment for colleagues, support staff, and veterinary students visiting the hospital.
- Triage and facilitate treatment plans for emergency patients.
- Continue care of specialty patients who are hospitalized overnight and on weekends.
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
- Provide clear and complete communication to clients and support staff.
- Communicate with referral partners (verbally and with referral letters).
- Attend morning rounds to collaborate with specialists on the currently hospitalized. li>Maintain a positive and supportive work culture.
