Responsibilities
Critical care registered nurses provide advanced life support and coordinate care for patients who have experienced a heart attack, stroke, shock, severe trauma, respiratory distress, or other critical medical issues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assess a patient’s condition and develop and implement patient care plans.
- Treat wounds and provide advanced life support.
- Assist physicians in performing procedures.
- Observe and record patient vital signs.
- Ensure ventilators, monitors, and other medical equipment function properly and adjust ventilator/IABP settings as needed.
- Administer intravenous fluids and medications.
- Suction and collaborate with the critical care team.
- Respond to life‑saving situations using nursing standards and protocols.
- Act as a patient advocate and provide education and support to patient families.
- Care for pre‑ and post‑operative patients.
- Serve as a case manager, policy maker, or perform administrative duties as required.
- Per diem position; candidate must start within 2 weeks of offer.
- Must possess ACLS and BLS certifications through the American Heart Association.
- Must hold a Texas RN or multi‑state RN license.
- Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced critical care environment.
