RN – Intensive Care Unit; ICU

Responsibilities

Critical care registered nurses provide advanced life support and coordinate care for patients who have experienced a heart attack, stroke, shock, severe trauma, respiratory distress, or other critical medical issues.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assess a patient’s condition and develop and implement patient care plans.
• Treat wounds and provide advanced life support.
• Assist physicians in performing procedures.
• Observe and record patient vital signs.
• Ensure ventilators, monitors, and other medical equipment function properly and adjust ventilator/IABP settings as needed.
• Administer intravenous fluids and medications.
• Suction and collaborate with the critical care team.
• Respond to life‑saving situations using nursing standards and protocols.
• Act as a patient advocate and provide education and support to patient families.
• Care for pre‑ and post‑operative patients.
• Serve as a case manager, policy maker, or perform administrative duties as required.

• Per diem position; candidate must start within 2 weeks of offer.
• Must possess ACLS and BLS certifications through the American Heart Association.
• Must hold a Texas RN or multi‑state RN license.
• Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced critical care environment.
