Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Prep and Recovery Unit (CPRU), you will perform direct patient care, plan, coordinate and implement care of the Cardiac patients. You will work with all team members to ensure safe and accurate delivery of patient care. You will also be responsible for providing pre-procedure care and post-procedure care, to include patient discharge teaching/planning.

  • You will coordinate patient preoperative activities including telephone interview to verify procedure scheduled, pre-op diagnostic testing, history & physical documentation, Physician orders, and sedation/anesthesia requirements

  • You will assess, plan, and implement age appropriate perioperative patient/family teaching and care needs

  • You will initiate care by proper preparation of the patient for procedure including collecting baseline data (EKG, Labs), establishing IV access, and prepping the surgical site

  • You will administer medications and monitor and document response

  • You will monitor patient’s overall status throughout pre and post-procedure care and immediately communicates patient changes to physician

  • You will provide post procedural care by implementing physician orders for diet, medications, bedrest, assessments, documentation, and monitoring/treating complications
