RN Charge

Full Time, 3 x 12’s;
Night Shift, 6:45 pm – 7:15 am

As an RN Charge in the ICU, you provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff managing high‑acuity patients on a 26‑bed mixed‑acuity unit with 6 dedicated CVICU beds. Typical nursing‑to‑patient ratios are 1:1 for high‑acuity patients, 1:2 for general ICU patients, and 1:3 for intermediate‑care patients.

• Coordinates and supervises daily nursing activities and patient care assignments.
• Monitors patient flow—admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Assists staff nurses with complex patient situations, critical changes, or emergencies.
• Ensures high standards of care, safety, and adherence to policies.
• Delegates duties appropriately.
• Provides guidance or coaching on clinical issues.
• Acts as first line of communication for staff concerns.
• Serves as liaison between bedside staff and management.

• Uses thorough assessment and clinical reasoning to provide patient care.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates nursing care plans, adjusting as needed.
• Creates safe, therapeutic environments for patients, families, and staff.
• Manages emotional and physical pain to promote recovery and prevent unnecessary suffering.

• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing standards and procedures.
• Effective communication skills with diverse groups.
• Proficient problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Flexibility and clear communication for rapid updates on patient status.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum one year of ICU RN experience (two years preferred).
• RN license, BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
