Location: Round Rock (University), TX
Hours: M-F 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., full-time
Compensation: $27–$42 per hour, based on experience. Potential salary range: $74,000–$120,000 per year.
Job SummaryUnder the direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will participate in the implementation of therapy plans, delegate and direct support personnel, communicate with supervising PTs regarding patient needs, participate in patient education, and perform other professional duties within scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the therapist in data collection including appropriate tests and measurements for initial evaluation and communicate status updates.
- Assist in the implementation of therapy plans of care, perform therapy procedures and tasks delegated by supervising therapist.
- Progress treatment techniques and procedures as patient status and functional potential changes.
- Identify, respond, and report to supervising therapist any changes in patient physical/mental status or tolerance to treatment.
- Coordinate treatment program with other clinical/therapeutic services and community resources, attending appropriate clinical meetings.
- Provide patient education, create progressive home programs and instruct patients, families, and caregivers.
- Prepare for patient discharge, order or adapt necessary equipment, and recommend therapeutic services for continuity of care.
- Assist with the direction of functional training classes or programs under supervision.
- Assign routine tasks to aides and clerical staff in conjunction with supervising therapist.
- Demonstrate flexibility in caseload management, including accepting coverage.
- Effectively and efficiently manage individual, concurrent, and group treatment sessions based on patient needs.
- A valid state license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Graduation from an approved school for Physical Therapist Assistants and passing a national examination certified by CAPTE.
- Certified BLS completion required within first 90 days.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt and respond to changing patient needs.
