Job Description & How to Apply Below

Join Emerson Automation Solutions and be part of a team that's shaping the future of industries worldwide through innovative process automation systems. Our cutting‑edge technologies help industries operate more efficiently, sustainably, and safely. From optimizing energy use to ensuring the consistent quality of essential goods, Emerson's solutions are integral to the global infrastructure. Here, your work will contribute to a smarter, greener future where automation enhances everyday life and paves the way for sustainable growth.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Validation & Test Engineer to own and evolve our hardware test strategy across EMC, environmental robustness, and validation efficiency. This role strengthens product quality by improving test coverage, repeatability, and automation, reducing late‑stage issues and rework. You will be a key technical leader, working closely with cross‑functional teams, including system architects, circuit designers, PCB layout engineers, software developers, and compliance engineers, to ensure our products achieve optimal quality.

This is a hands‑on, lab‑focused role with growing influence on test infrastructure, tooling, and automation.

AS A SENIOR HARDWARE VALIDATION & TEST ENGINEER, YOU WILL:
  • Define and execute hardware validation plans in accordance with best practice in test engineering and design of experiments.
  • Ensure test coverage aligns with product risk, safety classification, and industrial use conditions.
  • Identify validation gaps early and drive closure prior to certification or release.
  • Perform in‑house pre‑compliance testing for emissions, immunity, ESD, EFT, and surge.
  • Characterize failures, document root causes, and work with hardware and layout teams on corrective actions.
  • Coordinate third‑party compliance testing and certification.
  • Own or support environmental testing including shock, vibration, temperature, humidity, and related stresses.
  • Ensure test conditions reflect real‑world installation and operating environments.
  • Develop and enhance test automation to increase repeatability and reduce manual effort.
  • Create automated test setups, scripts, and data‑capture methodologies where applicable.
  • Standardize test procedures, fixtures, and report across programs.
  • Act as an independent verifier to identify issues missed during feature‑focused development cycles.
  • Reduce certification failures, late‑stage defects, and field escapes through disciplined testing.
  • Mentor junior test engineers and technicians.
  • Help establish best practices for validation methodology and documentation.
  • Collaborate with external consultants for advanced EMC or atypical issues.
WHO YOU ARE:

You demonstrate a strong ability to manage complexity and make high‑quality decisions by approaching hardware challenges in a methodical and pragmatic way‑digging into root causes, using diverse data sources, and making sound, data‑driven decisions even without complete information. You apply tech‑savvy thinking by integrating practical engineering constraints with emerging best practices, ensuring solutions work reliably in real‑world conditions. Your commitment to optimizing work processes and driving results is evident in how you emphasize repeatability, robust test coverage, and improvements not only in product quality but also in the systems and methods teams use to test.

You demonstrate strong accountability by grounding your work in data, validating outcomes, and ensuring quality at each step.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field.
  • 4+ years in hardware validation, test engineering, or EMC‑focused test roles.
  • Exposure to EMC testing and general hardware validation.
  • Exposure to environmental testing (shock, vibration, temperature, humidity).
  • Proficiency with common hardware troubleshooting equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, EMI receivers, ESD equipment, or related EMC instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with schematics, PCB layouts, and concepts of EMI/RFI for PCBs. EMI/RFI protections.
  • Experience developing test plans, executing tests independently, and driving issues to resolution.
  • Legal…
