Overview
Advanced Heart Failure Transplant Cardiologist – Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a fellowship trained, board certified/board eligible Advanced Heart Failure Transplant Cardiologist for our Advanced Heart Failure Transplant team for the Greater Austin Region. Our heart failure services include heart transplant/ventricular assist devices, ECMO, and an interdisciplinary shock team. The position supports a team of 9 advanced heart failure specialists and approximately 50 heart replacements annually, with a focus on quality and longitudinal well-being for patients.
The team serves the Central Texas Region and collaborates with structural, surgical, imaging, and imaging teams.
The role is dedicated to expanding advanced heart failure services in the Greater Austin Region, focused on inpatient and outpatient services in Lakeway and Round Rock hospitals.
ResponsibilitiesThe candidate will have predominant inpatient service responsibilities related to the VAD/HTx program with expected inpatient rounding, VAD/HTx clinic involvement, and the option of participating in the ECHO rotation for VAD/HTx. Right-sided procedures (RHC, implantable pulmonary artery monitors, and endomyocardial biopsies) will be available to perform in Lakeway. Duties include inpatient and outpatient heart failure and transplant consultation services. Additional responsibilities may include ACGME education of Cardiology Fellows and rotating service on the inpatient cardiac transplant service at BSWH Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas.
Qualifications- Must be UNOS qualified for the care of patients with cardiac transplants.
- An interest in education and research is encouraged, but not essential.
- Provide coverage for transplant, inpatient and outpatient services.
- Predominant amount of time in Lakeway.
- Expected call 1:4 in Round Rock location
- Expected call 6 weeks a year in Temple location
- Dedicated HF nurses and APP once a week with plans for expansion.
- Opportunity to perform cath lab procedures (right heart catheterization, implantable pulmonary artery monitors) and read ECHO for VAD and Heart Transplant
