Overview
Park Maintenance Team Member (Full-Time) – The Round Lake Area Park District is seeking a dedicated, hands-on Park Maintenance Team Member to help care for the parks, playgrounds, and outdoor spaces that our community enjoys every day. As part of our Park Maintenance team, you’ll work alongside experienced staff to maintain and improve district parks, facilities, and equipment. No two days are the same—each season brings new projects, challenges, and opportunities to make a visible impact in our community.
What You’ll Do- Work in teams of two or more to maintain and repair park properties and equipment
- Perform turf maintenance including mowing, fertilizing, seeding, and weed control
- Assist with playground and park equipment repairs, painting, and general upkeep
- Line and prepare athletic fields for community use
- Operate maintenance equipment and vehicles safely and efficiently
- Participate in snow removal operations
Work is performed at a steady, moderate pace with a strong emphasis on teamwork, safety, and quality.
On-Call Responsibilities- Weekend on-call rotation for park needs
- Winter on-call status for snow removal operation
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related maintenance, landscaping, or grounds field
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, as determined by the District. Employment is contingent upon submission and review of a driver's abstract.
- Illinois Pesticide Operator License or willingness to obtain within six (6) months
- Ability to follow direction while also taking initiative and working independently when needed
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a team-oriented mindset
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and fit-for-duty health physical
