Your Role at Baxter

As part of Baxter’s Human-Centered Product Design Organization, the Senior Engineer, UX significantly improves the user experience of life‑saving medical devices and digital health solutions. You will lead important research efforts that reveal user needs and behaviors. Working closely with designers, engineers, and product partners, you will develop safe, effective, and intuitive solutions for clinicians, patients, and caregivers.

What You'll Do

  • Build and complete qualitative and quantitative studies. These include contextual inquiries in clinical settings, usability testing (remote and in‑person), surveys, A/B tests, and behavioral data analysis.
  • Develop personas, user journeys, and workflow maps to effectively communicate user needs and difficulties.
  • Integrate quantitative and qualitative data to provide a complete understanding of user needs, connecting behavioral analytics with human factors insights.
  • Translate research findings into actionable recommendations that inform product roadmaps, build decisions, and regulatory submissions.
  • Work in close partnership with Product Management, UX Development, Engineering, Clinical Affairs, and Regulatory teams to establish research objectives and ensure user needs correspond with safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, IEC 62366 usability standards).
  • Deliver compelling presentations and reports that bring user stories and data to life for diverse audiences, including executive leadership.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, usability standards, and guidelines in healthcare UX and human factors.
What You'll Bring
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human‑Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, or a similar area
  • 1‑3 years of UX research experience, preferably in healthcare, medical devices, or other regulated industries.
  • Proven expertise in mixed‑methods research, including usability studies, contextual inquiries, surveys, and quantitative analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of human factors principles and background in supporting usability engineering processes for regulated products (FDA, IEC 62366, ISO 14971).
  • Experience conducting research in clinical environments or with healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Skilled in research tools (e.g., Dovetail, User Zoom, Qualtrics, Lookback) and able to manage multiple research projects.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Comfort working in agile, iterative, and regulation‑focused development environments.
  • Ability to balance user needs with business goals and regulatory requirements.
