Job Title:

High School Track & Field Workers Job Overview:
Round Lake High School is seeking dependable and detail-oriented individuals to serve as Event Workers for our high school track & field meets. Event Workers play a crucial role in the successful execution of these events by accurately timing races, assisting with various field events, and ensuring the overall smooth operation of the meets.

Key Responsibilities:

* Race Timing: *
  • Accurately time track race events using manual stopwatches or electronic timing systems.
    * Record and verify race results promptly and accurately.
    * Communicate race times to the announcer and results coordinator.
    * Field Events Assistance: *
    • Assist with the setup, execution, and teardown of field events such as long jump, high jump, shot put, discus, and pole vault.
      * Measure and record distances and heights achieved by athletes in field events.
      * Ensure safety protocols are followed during all field events.
      * General Event Support: *
    • Help set up and break down event equipment, including hurdles, starting blocks, and finish line apparatus.
      * Assist with crowd control and ensure the orderly flow of athletes and spectators.
      * Provide support to coaches, officials, and other event staff as needed.

    • High School Athletic Director Necessary Skills and

      Qualifications:

      * Knowledge of Track & Field: *
    • Understanding of the rules and procedures for track & field events.
      * Familiarity with timing devices and methods used in race timing.
      * Technical Proficiency: *
    • Ability to operate electronic timing systems and manual stopwatches accurately.
      * Basic understanding of measurement tools and techniques for field events.
      * Attention to Detail: *
    • Strong focus on accuracy and precision in timing and measuring events.
      * Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
      * Physical Stamina: *
    • Capability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks related to event setup and teardown.
      * Ability to move and handle equipment used in track & field events.
      * Communication and Coordination: *
    • Effective communication skills to interact with athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators.
      * Ability to work collaboratively with other event staff and volunteers.

      Working Conditions:

      * This position requires availability during evenings and weekends, coinciding with the school's athletic schedule.
      * Event Workers will be required to attend all home track & field meets, including regional and state competitions if applicable.
      * Work is primarily outdoors, requiring exposure to various weather conditions. Compensation:
      * Pay is determined per the collective bargaining agreement
