Responsible for PLC and HMI programming for manufacturing equipment designed and constructed internally by Baxter Engineering, as well as controls‑related support for various equipment in Baxter’s global manufacturing network. Displays standard engineering principles to resolve difficult problems, from conception to final design with team input. Plans, schedules, and leads project assignments in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of various engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria with minimal guidance.

• With minimal guidance, schedules and leads a team through the planning and execution of a smaller project or a defined piece of a larger project. This includes constructing detailed, accurate project schedules, interfacing with development groups and technical support groups.
• Act independently with minimal supervision in developing large‑scale PLC programs, HMI systems, vision systems, and servo systems.
• Interface with design, engineering, technicians, plant personnel, and external vendors to assure successful design, fabrication, and assembly of manufacturing equipment.
• Contribute to cost estimating of the control engineering portion of major capital budget items, track project budgets, and monitor the spending of approved project funds.
• Prioritize multiple tasks across multiple projects.
• Continuously improve department processes and advance standardization related to controls technology and programming.
• Investigate and analyze field issues and develop, evaluate, and implement design improvements.
• Indirectly supervise or coordinate engineers and/or technicians on assigned work.

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 3 or more years of relevant work experience.
• Experience directly working in or supporting a dynamic manufacturing operation is preferred.
• Knowledge of the basic principles in various engineering disciplines.
• Ability to run projects and direct the activities of a technician.
• Knowledge of manufacturing equipment electrical and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with electrical control system design and relevant CAD software, preferably Solid Works Electrical.
• Experience with electrical and control system design of manufacturing equipment, including Rockwell Automation software (RSLogix
  5000/Studio 5000) and HMI systems (Factory Talk View Studio ME/SE). Experience with robotic programming (Fanuc, Omron, Staubli), vision systems (Cognex), and healthcare‑specific applications is a plus.
• Ability to communicate and persuade customers, partners, and management on recommended courses of action with minimal assistance using both written and verbal methods.
• Effectively operate in and may facilitate cross‑functional teams with guidance.
• Provide solutions that reflect an understanding of business objectives and cost implications.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees. This position has a base salary range of $88,000 to $121,000, plus an annual incentive bonus, commission target, and equity target. The actual salary may vary based upon relevant skills, experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
