As the Lead Theatre Practitioner, you will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary theatre team providing a high standard of nursing care and safety for patients within the theatre unit. In addition to this, you will also actively contribute to the maintenance of an environment that is conducive to the delivery and promotion of a high standard of patient care.
The post holder will adhere to professional and national standards and work in a patient-focused way. Delivering a service that is safe, effective and efficient. Seeking staff trained in the following specialities; plastics, general, orthopaedics and gynaecological surgery.
This role is offered on a six-month fixed-term contract, with the potential to transition to a permanent position.

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the theatre, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
- Manage and supervise theatre staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
- Assist the Theatre manager with audits and implementing policies.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as marketing and finance, to ensure effective collaboration and achievement of organizational goals.
- Monitor and maintain theatre facilities, equipment, and supplies to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for staff and patients.

Job responsibilitiesRole
Purpose:
To provide quality planned care for patients during their peri operative phase of care
To support and assist in the management and organisation of care provision within the Operating Department
Core Responsibilities:

Monitor and maintain theatre facilities, equipment, and supplies to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for staff and patients.
Key Accountabilities:
Responsible for ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix to reflect the changing workload and tomeet the needs of the patient in the perioperative environment.
Coordinate all clinical activity to maximize efficiency.
Provide clinical leadership to all theatre staff.
Provide effective communication with team members and other departments to ensure an efficient serviceis maintained.
Deputies for the Theatre Manager in their absence and responsibility for delivering the service daily.
To act as a clinical expert within the area of work demonstrating specialist knowledge, skills and expertise.
Ensure that all staff working within their specialty is working to the required level of clinical and professionalcompetence.
Work collaboratively with other team leaders in the theatre department in the daily running andorganization of theatre activity and provide support in all clinical areas as necessary.
Work as part of the senior staff team to meet the departmental objectives and develop the work of thetheatre service.
Develop, implement and update policies, guidelines & protocols for the management of patients within theperi-operative setting.
To lead the Theatre team and act as an effective role model, providing excellent quality of care for patient sand to act as an expert resource & knowledge base for colleagues.
To maintain a high standard of documentation in accordance with their relevant professional body for Record Keeping.
To always take responsibility for the cleanliness of their theatre environment and equipment.
To be responsible for the maintenance and repair of the theatre equipment.
Maintain the health and safety and wellbeing of patients, their relatives, visitors, and colleagues, in accordance with the hospitals Health & Safety Policies.
To maintain and raise the clinical standard of care through the process of audit, and as a result implementchanges in best practice.
Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of peri-operative patient care.
This will include:
Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures
Provide assistance in clinical/ operative procedures
Providing initial emergency care as required.
Working with members of the multi-disciplinary Theatre team following local protocols and standards.
