Nursery Handyman / Maintenance Operative

Location:

Across 9 nurseries in Rotherham, Doncaster & Sheffield

Hours:

20 hours per week (flexible across sites)

Reports to:

Senior Management Team

We are looking for a reliable, practical and proactive Handyman to support the upkeep and safety of our group of 9 busy nurseries across South Yorkshire. This role is vital in ensuring our environments remain safe, welcoming and well maintained for children, families and staff.

• General maintenance and minor repairs (doors, locks, shelving, fixtures, outdoor equipment)
• Basic plumbing tasks such as leaks, taps and toilets
• Basic electrical tasks such as changing lights and fittings
• Painting and decorating as required
• Maintaining outdoor areas and play spaces
• Carrying out basic health & safety checks and reporting issues
• Assisting with furniture assembly, room moves and site set-ups
• Communicating with nursery managers about maintenance needs
• Working in line with safeguarding and health & safety policies

• Experience in maintenance, handyman or similar role
• Practical, hands-on skill set
• Own transport and full driving licence
• Reliable and able to work independently
• Friendly and professional around children and staff

• Experience in nursery, school or care settings
• Trade qualifications or maintenance background
• Health & safety knowledge

• Stable part-time hours (20 per week)
