Role:
An opportunity has arisen to join an expanding Payroll team as a Payroll Officer. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced payroll professional who is confident managing end-to-end payroll processes while also contributing to the continuous improvement of payroll services and systems.
You will manage payroll for a varied portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a high standard of client service at all times.
Key Responsibilities:- Process end-to-end payroll for multiple clients on weekly, fortnightly, and monthly cycles
- Accurately calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and statutory payments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records
- Ensure full compliance with payroll legislation, PAYE, NI, pensions, and employment regulations
- Prepare and submit statutory payroll filings and reports
- Manage starters, leavers, payroll amendments, and year-end processes
- Respond to payroll queries and provide clear, professional advice to clients
- Reconcile payroll reports and support audits where required
- Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and employee data
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and service delivery
- Minimum of 3 years’ payroll experience, ideally within a payroll bureau or professional services environment
- Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation and statutory compliance
- Experience using payroll software such as Bright Pay, Sage, Xero, or similar
- Highly accurate with excellent attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, able to manage multiple deadlines
- Confident communicator with a professional and client-focused approach
- Competent in Microsoft Excel and Office 365
Qualifications:
- Payroll or accounting qualification (e.g. CIPP, AAT, or equivalent)
- Ongoing professional development in payroll or employment legislation
