Main duties of the jobThe post is a permanent position working part time
We are seeking an enthusiastic Practice Nurse to work within an established team. Candidates must have the following experience and skills:
Current NMC Registration
Have experience in a Primary Care setting
Familiarity with Systm One medical system would be an advantage.
About usGreasbrough Medical Centre is an innovative busy, friendly practice of 4,200 patients we operate on TPP Systm One and general office computer systems. Our practice team is committed to providing a high standard of clinical care and an excellent service to patients. We have a strong multidisciplinary team comprising of two GPs, Practice Nurse, ANP's Clinical Pharmacist, HCA and Counsellor. We also have an experienced medical support team of administrators.
Jobresponsibilities
The practice nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of practice.
- Assistin and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by seniornursing staff and GPs
- Cytology
- Removalof Sutures
- Travel Imms
- ECGs
- Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
- Chronic Disease Management
- Venepuncture
- Earsyringing
- Routineimmunisations/Childhood immunisations
- Requestingpathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Contraception.
- Followingagreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
- Other tasks will include
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
- Maintaining
GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required - Chaperoningand assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.
- Maintaingeneral tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
- Orderingof Health Promotion Literature
- Orderingof stock from the District Hospital
- Orderingof vaccinations to maintain stock levels
- Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
- Atall times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
- Aduty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within arange of assigned tasks
- Attendand participate in any Practice meetings when required.
- On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
- Anyother delegated duties appropriate to the post

Health & safety
The post-holder will implement and lead on a fullrange of promotion and management their own and others health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice Health & Safety policy, the practice Health & Safety manual, and the practice Infection Control policyand published procedures. This will include (but will not be limited to):
- Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines
- Awareness of national standards of infection control and cleanliness and regulatory/ contractual / professional requirements, and good practice guidelines
- Responsible for the correct and safe management of the specimens process, includingcollection, labelling, handling, use of correct and clean containers,storage and transport arrangements
- Management and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the practice including provision, ordering, availability and ongoing correct usage bystaff
- Responsible for hand hygiene across the practice
- Ownership of infection control and clinically based patient care protocols, and implementation of those protocols across the practice
- Activeobservation of current working practices across the practice in relationto infection control, cleanliness and related activities, ensuring thatprocedures are followed and weaknesses / training needs are identified,escalating issues as appropriate
- Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in away that manages those risks across clinical and patient process
