Mechanical Technician – Power Station

SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to join the maintenance department of a biomass power station near Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
This role focuses on delivering safe, reliable mechanical maintenance across the plant, supporting availability, efficiency and long-term asset performance. The successful candidate will work closely with operations and engineering teams to ensure all mechanical equipment is maintained to a high standard.
The role will involve:
* Planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on rotating and static plant equipment
* Maintenance and overhaul of pumps, valves, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors and associated systems
* Supporting maintenance activities on boilers, fuel handling and auxiliary plant
* Carrying out fault-finding, defect rectification and first-line repairs
* Completing maintenance activities in line with site procedures, permits and isolation requirements
* Updating maintenance records and work orders within the CMMS
* Supporting outages and shutdown activities as required
* Working alongside specialist contractors and equipment vendors
* Maintaining high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and housekeeping
To be considered for this role, you should have:
* A recognised mechanical qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) with a completed apprenticeship
* Experience working in an industrial or process environment such as biomass, power generation, CHP, EfW or marine engineering from the Navy
* Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance experience
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary site team
* A strong understanding of safe systems of work and permit-to-work procedures
