Position: Community Dental Officer - Band A

Full time Community Dental Officer (37.5 hours per week). Permanent contract, part time considered

One of our Community Dental main base clinics - Rotherham Community Health Centre, Rotherham
-New Street Health and Wellbeing Centre, Barnsley
-The Flying Scotsman Centre, Doncaster.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic dentist to join our motivated and supportive community dental team.

Our service prides itself on providing specialised clinical care for children, young people and adults with additional needs, including treatment under inhalation and IV sedation, as well as general anaesthesia - thus providing ideal opportunities for training and supporting career development.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside the Consultants, Specialists and Senior Dental Officers to deliver dental care to paediatric patients and adult patients with special care needs referred into the service.

The post holder will be based in clinics based in Rotherham providing high quality comprehensive dental care to identified special care priority groups, working within health centres and domiciliary settings. However, where the need arises the post holder will be expected to also work in clinics in Barnsley and Doncaster.

The applicant must be GDC registered and be eligible for a performer number.

Job responsibilities

The Post

The post holder will work alongside other Dental Officers based in Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham in providing a range of dental services.

SCOPE AND RANGE

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a range of dental services in accordance with the commissioned service specification, Trust plan and policies. This may include providing comprehensive dental care under IHS sedation and general anaesthesia. Dental care maybe provided in community, hospital or domiciliary settings as a flexible approach will be required in responding to the clinical care needs of these patients.

The post holder will be based at Rotherham Community Health Centre. The post holder may from time to time be expected to work at clinics across the service if the need arises.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

To provide high quality oral health care to patients within the remit of the Community Dental Service requiring comprehensive dental care in dental clinics, hospital and domiciliary settings. This will include the treatment of those with learning difficulties, mental health problems and challenging behaviour, complex medical histories, mobility problems, sensory disabilities, frail older people and other special needs. This also includes children with social problems or requiring behavioural management.

Care will be provided in clinics and domiciliary settings which will involve driving between establishments and the transportation of appropriate equipment required…
