Position: Field Service Tech FSR1

Job Description

JDC Power Systems, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Service Technician FSR1 to support and maintain our customers' field operations. In this hands‑on role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, and maintaining electrical systems, industrial controls, and related equipment at client locations. As a key member of our field service team, you’ll provide essential technical support, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Service Support:
    Perform on‑site installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of power systems, electrical equipment, and industrial controls; inspect, repair, and replace electrical components, including transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switch gear, protective relay systems and PLC controls; support commissioning and system start‑ups, ensuring systems are operational and meet specifications; conduct thorough system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Customer Interaction and Support:
    Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during service visits; address technical issues and provide solutions; establish and maintain positive relationships with customers; train customers on operation and maintenance of their equipment; accurately document service activities, generate test reports, and provide detailed feedback on system performance.
  • Operational Efficiency:
    Work closely with other technicians and internal teams to ensure timely and effective service delivery; maintain accurate records of service work, time tracking, and inventory management on site; use available technologies to troubleshoot and resolve issues remotely when possible, helping to reduce service costs and downtime.
  • Health & Safety Compliance:
    Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and industry standards; promote safety practices on site; conduct safety audits and participate in safety training sessions; maintain up‑to‑date safety certifications and participate in ongoing safety and technical training.
  • Ongoing Improvement:
    Stay up‑to‑date with the latest industry trends, equipment, and technologies to improve service capabilities; contribute to the development and implementation of best practices and standard operating procedures for field service activities; provide feedback to management on customer needs, technical challenges, and service improvements.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in electrical engineering or related technical field preferred.
  • Certifications:

    NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or other relevant technical certifications are a plus.
  • Experience:

    Experience in servicing and maintaining complex electrical systems and infrastructure; hands‑on experience with testing and troubleshooting PLCs, SCADA systems, circuit breakers, transformers, LV/MV switch gear, and protective relay systems.
  • Skills and

    Competencies:

    Strong troubleshooting skills; proficiency with field service management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); strong communication skills; ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and handle service priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Other Requirements:
    Willingness and ability to travel frequently, with overnight stays to visit customer sites and JDC locations across the country; valid driver’s license and clean driving record; strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction; familiarity with industry‑standard test equipment; ability to read and mark up electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Location:

    Based out of Atlanta, GA. Travel required on a daily/weekly basis to customer sites and internal field service locations across the region; occasional travel to Hackettstown, NJ to meet with leadership.
