Job Summary: Responsible for directing and overseeing the daily activities of an assigned shift using independent judgment to assure successful and safe delivery of care. Facilitates onboarding and precepting under the guidance of their direct lead. Serves as a clinical resource/support to the staff, physicians, patients, families, and other departments by providing direct patient care, medication administration and ensuring equipment resources and function.

This role may require the duty of a patient assignment. Responsible for promotion and execution of PI initiatives. May assist with data collection and analysis of PI activities. Customer Service, and Safety and Quality initiatives for designated shift.

NOTE:

New Hires (After 11/13/2022):
Must have one or more of the following NBRC Credentials: ACCS, AE-C, NPS, RPFT (AE-C certifications prior to September 1, 2022 issued by National Asthma Educator Certification Board).
Core Responsibilities and

Essential Functions:

Leadership and Collaboration
1. Leads the shifta. Assures delivery of safe patient care by analyzing patients needs and skill competency level of personnel when making patient assignmentsb. Facilitates interdisciplinary communication and planning to ensure timely care delivery including dischargec. Communicates with direct leader any needs or concerns pertaining to patient care delivery or employee performanced. Assists in the evaluation of staff, providing input to Supervisor regarding clinical performance, teamwork, etc.

Innovation and Customer Care
2. Provides resources and supporta. Monitors equipment inventory, location and utilization to ensure staff have tools and equipment needed to perform their jobb. Assists in acquiring appropriate staffing levels.c. Provides clinical assistance to staff as necessaryd. Assist with orientation & training for new employees and student clinical rotationse. Assist with annual skill competenciesf. Communicates educational needs of staff (i.e. huddles, new equipment or knowledge in-services for RT staff Maintains staff education records
3. Professional Developmenta. Maintains current knowledge related to patient population to deliver the highest standard of careb. Identifies learning needs of workgroup and communicates needs to direct leader.c. Demonstrates excellence in respiratory care practice by promoting process improvement and committee participation
4. Exemplary Practice & Quality Outcomesa. Rounds on patients to evaluate quality and appropriateness of patient care including corrective action when needed utilizing peer coaching and accountabilityb. Demonstrates excellence in Respiratory Care practice by providing the highest standard of direct patient care.c. Participates in implementation and monitoring of PI, Customer Service, and Safety and Quality initiatives to improve patient care delivery

Required Minimum Education:
  • Associates Respiratory Therapy or Bachelors Respiratory Therapy-Preferred
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC-ALS - Amer Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS-I - ACLS - Instructor
  • PALS - Pediatric Adv Life Support or ARC-PALS - Amer Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PALS-I - PALS - Instructor or PALS-P - PALS-Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program or ARC-NALS - Amer Red Cross Neonatal Advanced Life Support or NRP-I - NRP - Instructor or NRP-P - NRP-Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days
  • NBRC-RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapi
  • RCP - Respiratory Care Prof

Required

Minimum Experience:

Current advance credential with a minimum of two (2) years clinical experience to work in all critical care areas but not limited to Adult ICU, CVICU, BURN, NICU, Emergency Departments (Adult and Pediatric) as it relates each facility Required
