Summary
A QRV (Quick Response Vehicle) paramedic responds from a rapid response vehicle equipped to provide emergency medical care in both emergency and non‑emergency environments. A QRV paramedic will rendezvous with another med unit, typically staffed with a BLS‑level crew, and provide ALS care on scene and throughout transport.
DescriptionThis role requires excellent decision‑making skills, the ability to work independently and in a team setting. The paramedic ensures compliance with all State of Georgia EMS rules and regulations, checks and maintains ambulance equipment and vehicle, keeps all required licenses and certifications for an EMT‑P position, holds a State of Georgia Driver’s License, attends mandatory training, and follows company policies and procedures, including medical director‑approved protocols and standing orders.
Employees are subject to a six‑month introductory probationary period.
- Respond to all calls for service dispatched from the Central EMS communications center as directed.
- Provide rapid response to emergency medical calls in an SUV to rendezvous with a responding BLS crew.
- Operate independently in the field and be responsible for maintenance of equipment, including vehicle and all medical equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with other first responders to coordinate care in emergency situations.
- Communicate effectively with EMTs, paramedics, and other medical staff, providing accurate and timely information about the patient’s condition and treatment.
- Assist staffing by being willing to work on an ambulance when needed.
- Provide care and treatment to patients according to company policy and medical director protocols.
- Ensure ambulance and all equipment are cleaned and checked daily; report deficiencies immediately to shift supervisor or Operations Manager.
- Prepare and complete appropriate reports including Patient Care Reports (PCR), billing, exposure reports, incident reports, and unit check‑offs (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Ensure unit and crew members adhere to Central EMS policies, procedures, guidelines, directives, and standards.
- Report any deficiencies to shift supervisor or Operations Manager.
- Ensure vehicle is in‑service and complies with required laws, rules, licenses, and regulations as outlined by the State of Georgia and other authorized agencies.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance at work and mandatory meetings.
- Maintain readiness and professionalism while on‑duty.
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct while in company uniform, on or off duty.
- Be self‑motivated and require little supervision and direction.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on‑site emergency medical services.
- Knowledge of company medical director‑approved protocols and standing orders.
- Ability to read and interpret local maps.
- Ability to complete multiple, simultaneous, and rapidly emergent tasks.
- Ability to understand medical terminology.
- Ability to write reports and correspondence.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions regarding patient care, Central EMS operations and other customer service issues.
- Ability to utilize personal computer systems including PCR reporting, email, and MDT applications.
- Ability to represent Central EMS and other team members as an EMS professional.

While performing duties, an employee regularly uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaches with hands and arms; talks or hears. Frequently required to stand and walk, occasionally sit, climb, stand, or balance. Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 180 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 300 pounds with assistance from others. Vision requirements include close, color, peripheral, depth, and focus adjustment.
