SENIOR SUMMER CAMP INSTRUCTOR

Compensation: $26.96/hour as per the Collective Agreement between CUPE Local 2087 and the City of Rossland.

Department:
Rossland Recreation.

Seasonal position.

• Provides quality customer service and maintains positive relationships with the public and fellow staff members.
• Monitors summer camp activities and patrons to ensure safety and behavioral standards are maintained.
• Works with groups in implementing assigned programs.
• Performs building attendant tasks including set‑up and take‑down of equipment, tables and chairs as needed.
• Assures facilities, equipment and play areas are maintained in a clean, safe and satisfactory fashion. Checks for and reports safety hazards.
• Mentors junior instructors including Leaders in Training.
• Coordinates daily staff assignments in the absence of the Camp Manager. Assists with ensuring appropriate staffing levels, including responding to staff illness.
• Assists in the planning, development, leading and participation of a variety of summer camp activities.
• Maintains attendance, safety and activity records.
• Enforces rules and regulations governing assigned programs and completes incident reports.
• Renders first aid as necessary.
• Addresses problems and concerns to the Summer Camp Manager or Recreation Department.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
