Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Area: Rochdale, Greater Manchester

Start Date: Monday 19th January 2026

Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only (Permanent)

Salary: 525 - 600 per week (depending on experience)

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

We are working alongside a well‑established specialist school in Rochdale that offers a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for children and young people aged 11‑19 with Autism, ADHD, mild to severe learning difficulties, and associated social, emotional, and mental health needs.

The school is widely recognised for its caring ethos, collaborative multi‑disciplinary approach, and personalised curriculum designed to support both academic progress and emotional development. With small class sizes, high staff‑to‑pupil ratios, and a strong, supportive leadership team, this is a highly rewarding setting for individuals who want to make a meaningful and lasting impact.

• Support pupils in the classroom through 1:1 and small‑group work
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and structured lessons
• Support pupils with additional needs, building confidence, communication skills, and positive behaviour
• Offer encouragement and motivation throughout the school day, including lessons, activities, and break times
• Act as a consistent and trusted adult, supporting pupils' social and emotional development

• Experience working with or mentoring children or young people (education, youth work, sports coaching, volunteering, or similar backgrounds)
• A patient, friendly, and approachable manner with the ability to build strong relationships
• Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths or equivalent)
• Calm, resilient, and positive, with a good sense of humour
• A genuine commitment to inclusion and helping every pupil reach their potential

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS registered with the Update Service
• Provide two professional child‑related references
