What Nuclear Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health
Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.
Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines; may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy.
Job SummaryThe Supervisor, Nuclear Pharmacy may or may not be a licensed pharmacist, depending on location, and assists in management of the pharmacy technician staff to support ongoing pharmacy operations and identify areas of opportunity and improvement. As such, this job has significant responsibility for staffing, scheduling, people management and performance reviews, payroll and staff communications. In addition, this job manages customer service and delivery issues, performing root cause analysis and dispute resolution, as needed, and participates in everyday pharmacy operations such as maintenance of inventory levels, fielding questions from customers and staff, and relaying information to appropriate stakeholders.
This job may have responsibility for managing and producing financial statements, as well as serving as an acting pharmacist. This job assists in order preparation, entry and fulfillment as well as completing ad hoc tasks, as required.
- Monday - Friday rotating shifts which includes 11:30pm - 7:30am, 4am - 12pm, 5am - 1pm, 8:30am - 4:30pm
- Must be willing to work weekend, on-call, and holidays on a rotational basis
- Flexibility to work various shifts and rotate schedules as needed based on business needs
- Performs duties of acting pharmacist, supervises technician staff, and assists in preparing facility for daily operations through scheduling and staffing management.
- Manages and participates in performance reviews for pharmacy staff, and analyzes pharmacy operations to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Performs administrative pharmacy tasks, such as billing, payroll, answering questions and assisting customers to facilitate pharmacy operations and customer satisfaction.
- Manages financial aspect of pharmacy operations and assists in efforts to control costs to support profitable management of the pharmacy.
- Collects and processes customer orders and receipts to ensure efficient communication and timely delivery of medications to patients.
- Follows standard operating procedures to organize, prepare and dispense radioactive medications, as specified by manufacturers and in line with customer needs.
- Assists in training and development of staff through mentorship of pharmacy techs.
- 4-8 years of experience, preferred
- Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Pharm
D required - Licensed Pharmacist in the state of Minnesota or eligible to obtain
- Authorized user strongly preferred
- Ability to negotiate, influence, and resolve customer/employee problems or conflicts to meet the needs of external and internal customers
- Ability to be innovative in troubleshooting clinical/bio-distribution problems
- Must demonstrate effective writing and verbal proficiency in internal and external communications and documentation procedures; presentation skills
- Must fulfill a commitment to the professional ethics adopted by the pharmacy profession
- Ability to plan and implement plans effectively; make effective and timely decisions; and effectively manage a budget and administrative functions
- Demonstrated leadership skills - coaching, mentoring, holding staff accountable while being professional, diplomatic, respectful and tactful. Strong time management skills preferred.

- Willing to travel to other pharmacies and become licensed in other states based on business needs. Up to 5-10% travel.
