Senior Events Manager, Lifestyle
The Senior Events Manager, Lifestyle will report directly to the VP, Business Development and Branding and will be responsible for strategizing, executing, and measuring events specific to their Playtype. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and creative individual who can work closely with their Playtype leader to develop and implement a clear, impactful event strategy. The Senior Manager will excel in collaboration, organization, and communication, ensuring seamless planning and execution of events that elevate the fan experience, boost brand visibility, and expand reach through creative activations, social media, influencer partnerships, and PR initiatives.
Whatwill your role involve
- Event Strategy and Vision: Partner with the SVP of Playtype and VP of Business Development and Branding to create event strategy and ensure alignment between overall Playtype’s strategy and individual studio visions across all Playtype-specific events.
- Global Event Coordination: Work closely with the Director/VP of Global Events to execute Playtype’s strategy and vision at major global events (e.g., Spiel, Gen Con, Nuremberg, etc.).
- Source New Opportunities: Identify new shows and fresh ideas to support the Playtype event strategy, ensuring our products are showcased in the best possible way.
- Create Memorable Experiences: Design and execute engaging experiences connected to our games and brands at both Playtype-specific and global events.
- Lead Playtype Event Execution: Manage the strategy, organization, and execution of all Playtype events, the flagship Galactics Championship event, Magic Cons and other industry events, including:
- Conducting regular status calls with stakeholders to ensure smooth event execution.
- Managing event budgets and ensuring financial accountability.
- Securing necessary resources to maximize event visibility and impact.
- Coordinating demo sessions and product presentations for Playtype and third-party studios.
- Overseeing attendee management, including registration, access, and roles.
- Support Global Event Execution: Assist the VP/Director of Global Events in planning and executing global events, providing on-site support as needed.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of event professionals and support staff to ensure the successful planning, execution, and follow-up of Playtype events.
- Travel to Events: Attend and provide pre- and post-show support at key global and Playtype events.
- Analyze Event Success: Collect and analyze event data to assess ROI and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support Multiple Events: Manage and support approximately 10 events annually, traveling both domestically and internationally.
- Other Duties: Perform any additional tasks as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- 7-10 years of experience in event management.
- Strong partnership, team spirit and collaboration skills.
- Strategic vision and creativity around event planning.
- Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects with varying deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Substantial pro‑active problem‑solving ability.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Ability to delegate, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- On event days: ability to spend 10+ hours engaging in physical activity, including lifting, and moving boxes and items (up to 50 pounds) from storage to venue; setting up registration tables, displays, signage, disassembling and packing event materials.
- Comfortable working in high‑stress environments, particularly during events.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. We are open to candidates with strong skill sets in data, budget management, or other relevant areas, even if their event experience is limited.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the event industry or a relevant field. However, candidates with less event experience but strong transferrable skills will be considered.
- Experience in the entertainment, sports, or music industry is a plus. Experience in an event agency is highly valued.
