Bus Driver Class B with PAX – Workforce Inclusion Vehicle Operator Specialist (Bus Driver)
Position SummaryUnder general supervision, the Vehicle Operator Specialist safely and effectively operates a multi‑passenger vehicle to transport and assist people with disabilities to and from destinations. Responsibilities include performing vehicle inspections, maintaining accurate records, navigating to various locations, and providing passenger assistance.
Typical Duties- Operate a multi‑passenger vehicle to safely transport individuals with disabilities to job sites and other destinations.
- Assist passengers with entering and exiting the vehicle, including securing wheelchairs.
- Perform vehicle inspections and report any mechanical problems prior to departure.
- Communicate with dispatch personnel.
- Maintain accurate and legible records and logs as required.
- Perform duties and special projects as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Meet driving qualifications as defined by PRIDE Industries.
- Ability to operate a passenger vehicle in accordance with a schedule.
- Ability to communicate effectively, including listening, verbal, and written skills.
- Demonstrate critical thinking to identify solutions to problems.
- Basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and exercise flexibility.
High School Diploma or GED.
Certificates Required- CPR/First Aid.
- Valid CDL with PAX endorsement.
- Bending, stooping, reaching to maneuver passengers’ wheelchairs into safety restraints.
- Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 35 pounds.
- Entering and exiting the vehicle.
Most work is performed outdoors and in a vehicle while driving. Frequently operating a passenger vehicle in a variety of traffic and weather conditions. This position requires non‑traditional hours and/or split shifts.
