All about General Merchandise:
Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise setup and maintenance, and pricing processes for all areas of the store.
Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

- Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store
- Experience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement
- Experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals
As a General Merchandise Expert, no two days are the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
- Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests and assisting with daily tasks
- Engage with guests to help solve their specific needs; thank guests for shopping at Target
- Execute daily tasks to help achieve goals, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas
- Operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures if certified
- Change prices, merchandise setup and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed
- Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability
- Be knowledgeable about store resources, products, and services to solve issues and improve guest experience
- Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely and report hazards
- Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (picking/packing orders or delivering pickup orders) while complying with laws
- All other duties based on business needs

Basic requirements and physical expectations:
- Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
- Climb ladders; lift or move merchandise up to 44 pounds without assistance
- Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable attendance
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions; drive-up, carryout, etc.
- Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a shift; shift length may vary
