Job Summary

Deliver coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. Supervise and direct the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff, and coordinate care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment.

  • Two years' emergency department experience:

Licenses/Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice:

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS, HS‑BLS, or RQIBLS) certification:
    Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS, HS‑ACLS, or RQIACLS) certification:
    Required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS, HS‑PALS, or RQIPALS) certification:
    Required
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS):
    Required
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course:
    Preferred
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or RQIACLS:
    Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS, HS‑BLS, or RQI BLS) certification:
    Required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or RQIPALS:
    Required
Essential Functions
  • Collect relevant data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation. Analyze the assessment data in determining diagnosis and care issues. Develop a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes. Implement the plan, coordinate care delivery, and employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Evaluate progress toward attaining outcomes. Identify outcomes for the patient or the patient’s situation.
  • Collaborate with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment. Provide learning opportunities for patients/family members and team members. Directly provide health information to patients, families, and treatment team.
  • Participate in discharge planning in order to provide continuity of care.
  • Delegate appropriately and coordinate duties of healthcare team members.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
