CNA ON CALL (Healthcare)
General Purpose
The primary purpose of your job position is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors.
Essential Duties
Identify residents using wristbands or photo cards before administering treatments, serving meals, etc.Use only authorized abbreviations when recording information.Report all changes in residents' conditions promptly to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.Record entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., clearly and informatively.Report all accidents and incidents observed during the shift.Maintain confidentiality of residents' protected health information and report violations.Report unauthorized access attempts to the facility's information system.Perform only those nursing procedures you are trained and authorized to do.Prepare residents' rooms for receiving residents, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.Greet residents and escort them to their rooms, introducing them to roommates and staff as appropriate.Make residents comfortable, inventory and mark personal possessions, and assist with transfers and discharges.Transport residents to different areas as needed, assist with loading/unloading vehicles.Create a warm, positive, and calm environment throughout your shift.Participate in shift meetings to identify and improve service quality.Address resident complaints and grievances appropriately.Participate in nursing reports and follow policies on exposure to blood and body fluids.Make beds, add extra covers upon request, and measure vital signs as instructed.Check on residents regularly, respond promptly to call lights, and ensure personal care needs are met.Assist residents with food arrangements, record food/fluid intake, and report changes.Maintain clean water pitchers and perform after-meal care.Follow work schedules and cooperate with other departments to ensure quality care.Notify of tardiness or absences, report occupational exposures, and assist with daily functions.Help with lifting, turning, and positioning residents; perform restorative procedures.Observe and report skin integrity issues and injuries of unknown origin.Monitor disoriented or unconscious residents and perform special treatments as instructed.Immediately report any residents leaving or missing from the facility.Use only trained equipment, report defective tools, and maintain confidentiality of all resident information.Report any abuse or property misappropriation, and honor residents' treatment refusals.Supervisory Requirements
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Minimum 10th grade education; ability to read, analyze, and interpret various documents; effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to apply mathematical concepts; problem-solving skills; licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with state laws; CPR certification preferred.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds occasionally; prolonged sitting, standing, walking, talking, reading, and hearing; use of office equipment; assist in emergency evacuations.
Work Environment
Typically low to moderate noise level; reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
