Position SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the Plant Maintenance Manager, the Plant Mechanic is responsible for the complete Plant preventative maintenance and scheduled repairs of the fixed equipment supported in the Material Recovery Facility and C&D (Construction and Demolition) Waste Facility.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities- Diagnose or troubleshoot mechanical problems using charts, technical manuals and expertise.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on recycling equipment and C&D equipment to maximize safe and productive operations.
- Replace conveyor belts, electrical motors, hydraulic cylinders and other mechanical parts.
- Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
- Use hand tools, power tools and electrical tools.
- Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Able to cut with torch and weld.
- May repair and install plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Able to work on heights using aerial working platforms (boom lift, scissor lifts, etc.).
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- At least 5+ years of industrial experience, training, or a combination
- Proficient on hydraulic and pneumatic system troubleshooting and repair
- Proficient in PLC troubleshooting and problem-solving ability with practical, mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with OXY/Acet torch
- Proficient in all welding processes
- Proficient in all conveyor system repairs
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- CMMS software experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license.
- Mechanical or trade school certificate.
- Must be willing to work any shift & some weekends
- $35-$37 DOE
