Role Responsibilities

The Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP) works to ensure the identification and accommodation of eligible children (birth to 36 months old) and their families. The Speech/Language Pathologist is responsible for evaluation and/or treatment programming for infants and toddlers who live in the catchment area of the Program which includes Fort Bend and Waller Counties. The Speech/Language Pathologist provides treatment for enrolled children which is recommended by the interdisciplinary team and may include complex treatment procedures, documenting patient progress in chart in the areas of communication/language development.

He/she is responsible for active treatment and documentation of service delivery/need and provides consultations to families as determined by the interdisciplinary team. The Speech/Language Pathologist is responsible for providing training to the program personnel in the areas of communication/language, development, sensory and oral motor/positioning and assistive technology devices/services. The Speech/Language Pathologist supervises assigned Speech/Language Pathologist-Assistant (SLP-A), as needed, according to ASHA requirements.

The position works under the direction of assigned member of the Administrative Team.

Working Hours

Working hours are Monday-Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm. Adjusted time to meet the needs of families and the program may be required, as needed.

Salary
  • $82,500 – SLP/annually
Required Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
  • A Master’s degree from an accredited university or college in speech and language communication disorders and current license from the Texas State Board of Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology
  • Texas Driver’s license
  • Knowledge of infant/child development
  • Knowledge of early intervention techniques
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge of assessment techniques
  • Interpersonal skills for positive interaction with individuals
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate both orally & in writing
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in applying departmental policy & procedure
  • Ability to use/interpret standardized testing instruments
  • Current license as Speech/Language Pathologist in Texas
Preferred Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
  • Previous work experience in Pediatric Therapy
  • Bilingual and Pediatrics experience

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to perform CPR.
  • Must be able to perform moderate lifting and carrying (15#), pushing, stooping, repeated bending, reaching above shoulder, simple grasping, hearing, walking, sitting and twisting.
  • Must have ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and have depth perception.
  • Qualified individual must be able to perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
