Operates and maintains water plants, SCADA systems, and all related instrumentation and equipment. Conducts inspections and investigations of water facilities and cross‑connection systems to identify and maintain water quality. Provides technical assistance and operational expertise to ensure water quality standards.

  • Performs daily inspections of water wells and monitors equipment to ensure proper operating status and safety; detects malfunctions and makes necessary electrical and mechanical repairs, adjustments and/or parts replacements to restore operations.
  • Performs and coordinates with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for water sampling:
    • Inspects residual, bacteriological, chemical, minerals metals, radiological, and other water sampling as required to maintain water quality and comply with the regulations of TCEQ and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
    • Assists with the development of the City’s annual Consumer Confidence Report and other reports and requests for information from TCEQ.
  • Assists with identifying and monitoring city’s water quality sample sites and recommends appropriate sample frequency and sampling route design.
  • Maintains and updates the City’s monitoring plan.
  • Operates trucks, crane, torch, welder, meters, power and hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and other equipment as necessary to perform daily duties.
  • Performs general maintenance duties, including but not limited to repairing fences, mowing lawns and trimming weeds, painting equipment, repairing/building structures, installing concrete, cleans, maintains, repairs and/or rebuilds plant equipment as necessary with minimal downtime, injectors, regulators, relief valves, pumps, blowers, etc.
  • Develops and maintains a database and records relating to water quality including spreadsheets, files, and maps to record dates locations, test results, etc.
  • Oversees cross connection control program:
    • Verifies testing of backflow prevention devices.
    • Coordinates with local business owners on backflow prevention and catalogs reports.
