JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary
Purpose:
To support and implement the guidelines for Alternative Education Program placement, truancy, and expulsion hearings as it pertains to the Lamar CISD Student Code of Conduct and district guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Responsibilities and Duties
1. Assist with Alternative Education Program placement.
2. Coordinate and conduct expulsion hearings.
3. Oversee district truancy processes to ensure compliance and timely intervention.
4. Provide effective two-way communication with the Hearing Office and campus administration.
5. Assist campus administrators in conducting daily due-process procedures regarding discipline management in a timely manner.
6. Updating the Lamar CISD Student Code of Conduct each school year.
7. Maintain systems for retrieval of discipline information.
8. Organize files for Alternative Education Program placement and expulsion hearings.
9. Serve as a resource for campus administrators and other staff regarding interpretation of the implementation of the Lamar CISD Student Code of Conduct.
10. Coordinate with school district and local law enforcement agencies regarding student conduct.
11. Confer with the Special Education Department regarding discipline of special education and 504 students.
12. Assist with admissions regarding DAEP and JJAEP.
13. Assist with editing of PEIMS Discipline Report Data.
14. Attendance at work is an essential function.
15. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Experience
* Three years of teaching experience
* Administrative experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
Education/Certification:
* Valid mid-management/principal certification
* Master's degree
* Valid Texas driver's license
* Eligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
* Knowledge of goal setting, school organization, Lamar CISD Student Code of Conduct and State Code of Conduct regulations
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with all stakeholders, including at board meetings
* Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
* Knowledge of district policies, TEA regulations, and school law
* Demonstrated human relations skills and ability to work collaboratively
* Ability to allocate resources efficiently and effectively
* Ability to work interdependently and efficiently to meet deadlines
* Demonstrated problem solving ability
* Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized
OTHER INFORMATION:
Working Conditions
Ability to concentrate (detailed work), communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate district functions, compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control under stress.
Moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds), pushing, reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking (intermittent), climbing (stairs), specific visual requirements (using computer; follow and record schedules, plans, charts and collection of data; reading professional materials), specific hearing requirements (telephone conversations and oral communication), travel (daily in-district travel), works around machinery with moving parts.
Outside and inside, unusual fatigue factors (in and out-of-district travel), protracted or irregular hours of work (flexibility needed).
