Skid Loader Operator - Paving Crew

Application Instructions

McNamara Contracting, a McNamara Company, is seeking a skilled Skid Loader Operator to join a paving crew. The primary function of the Skid Loader Operator is to support the paving and site preparation operations by safely and efficiently operating a skid loader, including the safe transportation of construction equipment as needed to and from sites. You will assist with all skid loader duties associated with paving including cleaning up after paver cutoffs, material handling, jobsite cleanup, and support tasks that ensure smooth paving production and high-quality finished surfaces.

Position Description:

• Operate skid loader to provide cleanup/grading of asphalt after paving cutoffs for various paving ranging from parking lots to city and county roads as directed by the paving crew or foreman.
• Transport skid loader and other equipment to and form job sites.
• Support paving operations by helping maintain material flow to the paver, clearing excess asphalt, and prepping work areas.
• Fine-grade areas around curbs, gutters, utilities, and tight spaces to ensure proper elevation before paving.
• Clean and maintain jobsite surfaces to support safe and efficient paving operations.
• Load or unload materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
• Perform daily machine inspections and routine maintenance including fueling, greasing, checking fluids, cleaning.
• Report equipment issues or damage immediately to the foreman or shop.
• Work closely with others on paving crew to maintain production pace and coordinate tasks.
• Follow all company safety procedures, including safe operation of equipment near crew members and other machinery.
• Assist crew with general labor duties when equipment operation is not required.
• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Position Requirements

Requirements:

• CDL class A is strongly preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 3-years as a skid loader operator
• Strong understanding of asphalt paving operations and equipment.
• Ability to work collectively as a team and independently.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.

Additional Information:

• Exposure to outdoor work environments under varying conditions.
• Ability to work extended hours during peak paving season, including Saturdays.
• Ability to work in high-paced, dynamic surroundings and swift decision-making.
• Ability to lift various dimensions and weights frequently.
• Frequent travel between job sites.

Pay: $46.28/hour - based on union scale
