Chaperone

Job Summary
  • Supervises and assists students in transit or crossing streets.
  • Moves or assists in moving students whose mobility is impaired by their special needs.
  • Facilitates the loading and unloading process, including assisting with wheelchair students and securing wheelchairs.
  • Assist students into car seats and booster seats, buckling seatbelts as needed.
  • Monitors and assists students to ensure comfort, safety and orderly conduct on bus.
  • Demonstrates and role models positive, safe and responsible behavior.
Chaperone

Physical Requirements
  • Climbing on and off bus, bending and squatting to assist students as needed, sitting for extended periods.
  • Capable of assisting, moving or dragging students in case of an emergency (ranging in weight from small child to full adult).
  • Exposure to elements, road dust, occasional fuel and exhaust fumes.
