Overview
Calling all early nursing students! If you are slated to graduate in 2027, we invite you to consider the Student Nursing Assistant (SNA) role. The SNA role complements your nursing program and provides hands-on, tech-focused experience under the direction of an RN. You will assist the care team with daily tasks, formulate, implement, and organize care interventions for a group of patients, and help provide a safe and efficient environment.
You will also assist with preparing patients for transfer or discharge. Hands-on care focuses on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), personal hygiene, patient mobilization and rehabilitation. Basic procedures such as dressing changes, wound care, urinary catheter care, perineal care, specimen collection, and EKGs will be reinforced in this role.
Working from the Float Pool (rotating unit placements), SNAs will enhance and diversify their clinical experience, with opportunity to move into a Student Nurse Extern role during the senior year/last semester of nursing school.
Licensing/Certification- A valid CNA license with the Maryland Board of Nursing is required.
- BLS certification is required at time of hire.
Active enrollment as a nursing student who has successfully completed Fundamentals of Nursing (or the equivalent) in an accredited nursing program.
Start datesOrientation offered through the summer on various dates to align with Clinical Orientation sessions. Start dates available include June 1, June 15, and July 6.
Pay rate$18.77 per hour

Schedule and responsibilities- The first week of new hire orientation will consist of hours scheduled Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.
- To acclimate and build independence, plan to work at least two 12-hour shifts per week. More hours provide more experience.
- Unit-based orientation will be scheduled with your leader.
- You may work up to full-time hours (36 hours per week) over the summer, if desired.
- Once fall semester begins, the position becomes flexible with a minimum of 24 hours (two 12-hour shifts) over six weeks, plus flexible scheduling to accommodate your school schedule.

This position has a hiring range of USD $18.77 - USD $18.77 per hour.
