Responsibilities include performing angiographic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures and managing patient care before, during, and after procedures.
- Administers contrast media into the coronary arteries as directed by a cardiologist during a cardiac catheterization procedure and determines the appropriate pressure of each hand injection based on pathology and vital signs.
- Applies knowledge of physiological and electrocardiographic sequences to recognize normal and dangerous arrhythmias; provides necessary patient care and assists the physician by independently scrubbing and aiding guidewire and catheter manipulation.
- Maintains adequate interventional supplies, records patient information, orders supplies from external vendors through the hospital purchasing system, assists with inventory control, and records data in the RIS or hospital computer system.
- Performs hemodynamic monitoring, records calculations of cardiovascular procedures, conducts electrophysiology and ablation procedures, and monitors patients throughout all phases of the procedure per physician instructions and policy.
- Handles pre‑procedural duties such as sterile tray preparation, patient education, lab work confirmation, and medical history review; and post‑procedural duties including observation of catheter or device sites, discharge instruction delivery, transportation coordination, and communication with receiving units.
- Safely operates imaging equipment—including digital equipment, pressure injectors, processors, rapid film changer, and cine—to produce high‑quality diagnostic images per departmental policy.
- Satisfactory completion of an AMA‑approved school of Radiologic Technology with a minimum duration of 2 years.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in diagnostic radiology.
- Experience in interventional radiology or cardiac catheterization, or equivalent.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification or registration.
- Radiology Technologist license in the State of Maryland.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or eligibility.
This position has a hiring range of USD $42.82 – $71.16 per hour.
