Building Maintenance, Maintenance Worker
This is semi-skilled work in one or more areas in the wastewater collection system or other related RUSA facilities involving installations, maintenance, repair, and construction activities or coordination of a service related to one or more areas listed above. Work involves responsibility for the use of equipment, vehicles, and hand tools in the construction and maintenance of sanitary sewers and maintenance of the Natural Treatment System.
Work involves a variety of operations and is performed under various weather conditions.
This position works under the direct supervision of the Collections Supervisor or Collections Operator III and under the general supervision of the Collection System Superintendent. Supervision is not a consistent function assigned to this position, but crew leadership is sometimes a responsibility of this classification. May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel on department policies and practices.
Overview of the PositionRoseburg Urban Sanitary Authority has a full-time opening in our Collections Department. We will be hiring a Collections Operator II. This is semi-skilled work in one or more areas in the wastewater collection system or other related RUSA facilities involving installations, maintenance, repair, and construction activities or coordination of a service related to one or more areas listed above. The position will report to the Collections Supervisor.
Although supervision is not a consistent function assigned to this position, crew leadership is sometimes a responsibility of this classification.
Experience:
Roseburg Urban Sanitary Authority will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skill, education, and experience to meet the minimum qualifications.
- High School diploma, or completion of a GED® Certificate.
- Two years' experience involving the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of public improvements such as wastewater systems or related utility services, including some supervisory responsibilities; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the class.
Certifications:
- Possession of a Wastewater Collection Grade I certification from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality at the time of the appointment and a Wastewater Collection Grade II within two years of appointment.
- Possession of a valid Oregon Class “B” commercial driver’s license (CDL) at the time of appointment and a Class “A” within one year of appointment.
- Obtain and maintain a Work Zone Traffic Control and valid First Aid/CPR card within one year of appointment.
- Must complete Competent Person and Asbestos Awareness class within one year of appointment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must pass the pre-employment background check.
- Must have an Oregon Driver’s License and have a driving record that meets Roseburg Urban Sanitary Authority’s driving standards.
- Must pass a post-offer physical.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- High School diploma, or completion of a GED® Certificate.
- Live within a 45-minute commute of the RUSA Office.
- Have a working knowledge of the proper operation and maintenance of vehicles, tools and equipment, practices, methods, hazards, and safety precautions used in the maintenance and repair of a sanitary sewer system, as well as general equipment servicing methods.
- Two years' experience involving the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of public improvements such as wastewater systems or related utility services, including some supervisory responsibilities; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the class.
