Patient Access Supervisor – Join Conifer Health Solutions. This role supports patient access operations by providing guidance, mentoring, and training to new and existing staff, ensuring high-quality patient service and compliance with hospital policies.

Job Summary

Responsible for providing guidance and mentoring of new and/or existing staff with daily work effort and proper handling of accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides daily support, mentoring, and training to new hires as well as existing Patient Access staff; assists in managing escalated issues as needed.
  • Assists in preparation of short- and long‑range planning recommendations for all registration process areas, including Admitting, Centralized Scheduling, Emergency Department, and any on‑ or off‑site clinics.
  • Maintains positive customer service at all times, assisting staff in resolving issues.
  • Enforces departmental policies, practices, procedures, and work rules in accordance with approved hospital policies; assists in developing and implementing new policies per corporate guidelines.
  • Monitors daily activity and completes performance and metric reports such as financial clearance reports; performs special projects and reporting when assigned.
  • Performs all Patient Access functions as needed.
  • Acts as part of the management team to ensure the group meets all operational goals.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with guidelines, policies, and procedures and applicable laws.

  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer systems in Health Care Information System.
  • Clear understanding of Revenue Cycle Management and regulatory agencies required.
  • Ability to receive and express detailed information through oral and written communication.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • College degree preferred.
  • 2‑ or 4‑year college degree in Business, Accounting, Medical Administration, or related area preferred.
  • 4+ years experience in medical facility, health insurance, or related area.
  • 5+ years experience in Patient Access preferred.
  • 2+ years in supervisory or lead role preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to work in a sitting position.
Work Environment
  • Hospital Work Environment.
Other
  • Must be available to work hours and days as needed based on departmental/system demands.
  • Must be “on‑call” as needed.
