Quality Inspector

Position Summary

Responsible for ensuring that plastic injection molded products meet customer specifications, internal quality standards, and ISO 9001 requirements. This role supports production through inspection, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement activities.

• Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of injection molded parts.
• Verify product dimensions using measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
• Inspect cosmetic and functional characteristics of molded plastic parts.
• Approve first-piece setups at the start of production.

• Maintain inspection records and quality documentation per ISO 9001 procedures.
• Ensure traceability of materials, components, and production batches.
• Participate in internal audits and support external ISO audits.
• Maintain control of nonconforming product according to QMS procedures.

• Monitor production processes to ensure consistent quality.
• Conduct in-process checks according to control plans.
• Verify process parameters and document deviations.

• Identify defects and nonconforming materials.
• Issue nonconformance reports (NCRs).
• Support root cause analysis and corrective / preventive actions (CAPA).

• Support customer complaint investigations.
• Participate in supplier quality inspections when required.
• Assist with incoming material inspections.

• Work with production, engineering, and maintenance to reduce defects.
• Support Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and scrap reduction initiatives.

• Understanding of plastic injection molding processes.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Experience with inspection tools and measuring equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.
• Basic statistical process control (SPC).

• High school diploma or technical degree (Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field).
• 1–3+ years experience in manufacturing quality, preferably plastic injection molding.
• ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 experience preferred.
