• Valid Michigan Teaching certificate with Elementary School Endorsement K-5 / K-8 All Subjects and/or a Music Endorsement (JX or JQ)
• Awareness of the physical, social, emotional and mental development of the learner
• Proficient and knowledgeable in the subject area
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents and staff.
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Knowledge of data and how it is used to inform instruction
• Proficient with technology as an instructional tool

• Provide instruction and explain new ideas and unfamiliar concepts in a clear and concise way so that students can understand.
• Use effective strategies for Differentiation of Instruction.
• Adhere to curricular goals / objectives to support commonality between classroom instructions.
• Develop lesson plans that support CCSS and School Improvement Goals.
• Actively engage students in lessons and meaningful learning experiences planned around grade level expectations and enhance critical thinking skills.
• Administer various types of assessments to monitor student performance and adjust instruction.
• Enhance the instructional environment toward gains in student performance goals.
• Engage with parents and create healthy relationships with students.
• Communicate regularly and routinely with parents.
• Manage students, data on students, etc.
• Evaluation of students (report cards).
• Work collaboratively with staff.
• This position is required to travel between buildings.
• Manage equipment / inventory in the classroom.
• Other duties as may be related to assignment / position.

• The employee must occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist while performing their job duties.

• The employee must use keyboards, tools, and other controls.
• The employee must sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
• The employee must have normal vision and hearing with or without aid.
• The employee must be able to move about the assigned work location during the day.

• The noise level in the work environment will vary and can range from soft to loud. Often the noise level is the work environment will be soft to moderate.
• The employee is required to interact with students, staff, parents / guardians and occasionally with the public.
• At times, the employee may be directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
