Mazco Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established and forward-thinking manufacturing business to recruit a Product Development Engineer / Assistant Manager. This is a key role within the organisation, offering genuine long-term progression into a management position for the right individual.
The Role
You will play a critical part in new product development and introduction, acting as a technical lead across design, machining, tooling, and customer interaction. This role combines hands-on engineering with project ownership and leadership responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
* New Product Development (NPD) and New Product Introduction (NPI)
* Full project management responsibility from concept to production
* Product and tool design using Solid Works
* Creation and control of engineering drawings
* CAM programming using Feature
CAM (or similar)
* Machining strategy development and process optimisation
* Tool trials, lifecycle testing, and validation activities
* High-level inspection and documentation (CMM, ISIR, FAIRs)
* Creation of work instructions and technical documentation
* Acting as the customer technical lead within Product Development / R&D
* Direct communication with customers throughout the development process
* Involvement in non-conformance investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement projects
* Supporting and developing team members, acting as a mentor and role model
Required Skills & Experience
* Strong working knowledge of Solid Works, machining principles, CAM (Feature
CAM or similar), and tool design
* Time-served apprenticeship with HNC / HND / Degree in Engineering
* Excellent IT skills, including Excel (formulas), chart creation, and presentations
* Confident working across multiple teams while maintaining strong professional relationships
* Ability to lead, mentor, and influence others
* Experience using a variety of databases and manufacturing systems
* Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
Desirable Experience
* Previous exposure to rubber moulding technology would be highly advantageous
