Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry (DCCI)
University of Genoa (UNIGE), located in Genoa, ITALY.
Call for Expression of Interest for a joint application under the upcoming MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026
University of Genoa welcomes postdoctoral researchers of any nationality, with an excellent track record, to apply to the European Commission Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026.
The University has been beneficiary of several MSCA-PF in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.
Benefits and Support
MSCA fellowship grant provides a competitive salary plus mobility and family allowances if applicable, as well as a contribution to cover research, training and networking costs. The research projects will have 2- or 3-years duration.
Selected candidates will be provided with special support for proposal writing and development.
The University will organize in May the fifth edition of the Masterclass MSCAected researchers will have the opportunity to attend a 2-days online intensive training and coaching course on how to write a successful proposal.

The masterclass will take place in Spring 2026.
Research Project Description

Solution-based synthesis, alloying, doping, and nanostructuring of semiconductors and plasmonic materials (noble metals, nitrides, doped oxides) for catalysis.
Characterization of charge dynamics, electrochemical potentials, and energy band structures by spectroscopy and photoelectrochemistry.
Photo reductive processes including PFAS degradation, CO2 reduction, and water splitting.

The laboratories of the University of Genoa are well equipped for spectroscopic investigations, thermal analysis, structural, morphological, and mechanical characterization.
For optical characterization, a fully equipped optical laboratory is available, enabling both standard and advanced spectroscopic measurements.
Morphological, thermal, mechanical, dynamic mechanical, electrical analyses can also be performed (SEM, AFM, optical profilometry, XRD, interferometric microscopy, mechanical testing, DSC, TGA, etc.).
The research group is currently acquiring additional instrumentation and facilities for both fabrication and characterization.
Principal Investigator
Paola Lova has been Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry (DCCI) since 2020. Her research focuses on the solution processing of polymeric and hybrid polymer–inorganic materials with controlled optical and mechanical properties for applications in photonics, photocatalysis, and photonic sensing. She currently supervises a research group of five members and serves as principal investigator or coordinator of three national research projects, with a total funding exceeding 5 million euros.

She is co-author of approximately 70 peer-reviewed publications (h‑index 24), with more than 1700 citations.
