Job Description:

* Creates, plans, implements, and coordinates orientation for individuals new to the nursing unit/department using the ANPD standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation with the NPD Practice model using inputs, through puts, and outcomes to ensure a systematic approach to onboarding orientation.

* Creates, plans, implements, and coordinates activities related to training of new graduates, experienced nurses, and ancillary staff new to the unit/department based on collection of data that is used systematically and purposefully to ensure relevant and evidence-based learning for each clinician.

* Designs engaging, interactive, state of the art educational activities/plans rooted in adult learning principles; implements and coordinates activities related to clinical practice and lifelong career development.

* NPD Practitioner may assist others in their professional role development, practice role transitions, and succession planning.

* Promotes a supportive environment for students by collaborating with academic partners for student placement and a positive student experience. Implements the nursing professional development (NPD) initiatives demonstrating caring behaviors, respect, equity, inclusiveness and empathy in actions and interactions with others.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Working knowledge of word processing, data management, email, and presentation applications. (Required)

* Effective professional communicator with strong interpersonal skills. (Required)

* Knowledge of the American Nurses Association (ANA)/Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) scope and standards for Nursing Professional Development (Required)

* Self-directed, creative, and demonstrates initiative to fulfill the seven roles of the NPD practitioner: learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate for the NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions. (Preferred)

* Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards (e.g., CMS, OSHA) for professional specialty served. (Preferred)

Education:

* Bachelor's of Nursing [Required]

* Master's of Nursing [Preferred]

* 2+ years nursing experience (Required)
